Labor Day
September 6
What a great weekend! We walked on Saturday with a number of supporters including Representative Eric Burlison and Tom Flanigan the House Rep from Carthage as well as several young supporters of Billy Long. It was a beautiful morning and we talked to a number of voters in the 138th who continue to concur with the campaign’s main focus of moving the economy forward and creating jobs for Missourians. Later we worked in the yard and helped our son and daughter-in-law move to their new home. It makes a parent’s heart proud when we watch our children succeed!
Labor Day started as usual – waiting for family and friends to observe the holiday attending the Labor Day Parade – what a feeling of community spirit seeing and greeting old friends as we celebrate the people who make our country great. The parade was quite long and the grandchildren were mainly concerned with the candy thrown towards them, while I thought of the hours spent cleaning and decorating the many vehicles so they would look their very best. People who have never spent time in a fire truck or behind the wheel of a delivery vehicle, working in construction or patrolling our streets have no idea how much is sacrificed by these workers to ensure our lives are as comfortable and safe as possible. Their pride in their jobs shows in the effort they made today and when I speak to them in person.
Labor Day is the perfect time to recognize the American worker for all they do to make our country great. I can proudly say I have done some of the jobs that they are doing and would be honored to represent them in Jefferson City. So I will be out knocking on doors again tomorrow, working as hard as I can to earn your vote in November.
